Ukrzaliznytsia stopped the train for the sake of saving a child
Ukrzaliznytsia stopped the train out of schedule to take a sick child to the 'Okhmatdyt' hospital in Kyiv. Iryna Vlasenko turned to the company via the social network Threads with a request for an unscheduled stop of the train at the Korzhivtsi station in the Khmelnytskyi district to transport her seven-year-old daughter, who needed urgent medical assistance. In response to the request, representatives of Ukrzaliznytsia agreed to the stop, noting that there might be delays.
Iryna Vlasenko expressed gratitude for the assistance, noting that due to worsening weather conditions in their settlement, there was no opportunity to reach the train. Later, the woman thanked the locomotive crew for their support, stating that they are 'incredible' and wished them health and a peaceful sky. She also received a gift from Ukrzaliznytsia during her journey, which was a pleasant addition to her experience.
New initiatives of Ukrzaliznytsia
It should be noted that recently Ukrzaliznytsia launched an updated inclusive electric train that will run in the Kyiv region, Chernihiv region, and Poltava region. This electric train is equipped with ramps and spaces for people with disabilities and also has signs in Braille, reflecting the company's commitment to ensuring comfortable conditions for all passengers.
This incident highlights the importance of timely responses from transport services in critical situations that may threaten passengers' health. Iryna Vlasenko's and her daughter's experience demonstrates how a quick decision by Ukrzaliznytsia can save lives. At the same time, the introduction of inclusive electric trains shows the company's efforts to improve transport accessibility for all citizens, including people with disabilities.
