Youth Olympic Games Set for Dakar in 2026
From October 31 to November 11, 2026, Dakar, Senegal, will host the Youth Olympic Games, marking the first time an Olympic event takes place on the African continent. The main athletic competitions are scheduled for November 8–10 at the Complexe Iba Mar Diop sports facility.
Sports Lineup and Key Highlights
The 2026 Youth Olympics will feature 25 core sports alongside 10 engagement sports. Among the disciplines included are:

- Weightlifting
A historic aspect of these Games is the first-ever participation of the Refugee Olympic Team, composed of young refugee athletes competing under the Olympic flag. The team’s preparation has been supported by Kenyan marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge.
