UNICEF's Assistance to Ukraine
UNICEF has delivered a batch of generators to Ukraine to support critical infrastructure, and internal movement of equipment between cities is also being carried out. The total amount of assistance received is 106 generators with a capacity of 15.1 MW. These generators, varying in power from mobile to industrial, are being sent to frontline regions and cities.
Future Plans
UNICEF plans to deliver 255 generators with a total capacity of about 40.6 MW to Ukraine, with the estimated cost of the planned assistance being almost 6.2 million US dollars. To support Kyiv, 2 cogeneration units with capacities of 1.5 MW and 2.3 MW have been delivered from Kryvyi Rih. The generators can operate as a primary or backup power source for critical facilities, including:
- thermo networks
- water utilities
- hospitals
- social infrastructure
This initiative is part of a broader winter support program aimed at ensuring the stable operation of essential facilities under challenging conditions. The provided equipment is intended to help sustain the livelihoods of cities at risk.
The delivery of generators from UNICEF is crucial for ensuring safety and stability in Ukraine, especially under increased risks associated with military actions and winter conditions.
These actions underline the efforts of international organizations to support critical infrastructure and the livelihoods of the population in the regions most affected.
