More Universities Join Nationwide Accessibility Training Network
Lutsk National Technical University has become the latest institution to join a growing initiative led by Ukraine’s Ministry of Communities and Territories Development. This expansion brings the total number of higher education institutions offering specialized training in accessibility to 12. The program is designed to equip professionals with the skills needed to create barrier-free environments across the country.
The training will consist of at least 60 academic hours, with the first courses scheduled to launch in 2026. Participants who complete the program will receive a certificate recognizing their expertise in physical accessibility. The curriculum covers national legislation and international best practices, hands-on site inspections, building and space accessibility assessments, and the development of actionable recommendations for implementing accessibility solutions.
This initiative is a key step toward improving infrastructure accessibility for people with disabilities in Ukraine. By involving more universities, the government aims to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals who can help make public and private spaces more inclusive. The trained specialists are expected to drive meaningful improvements in the country’s built environment.
As Ukraine continues to enhance its accessibility training efforts, it's worth noting the significant impact of effective training programs on workforce stability.
