Matchday 30's Top Performer and Coach Revealed

The Ukrainian Premier League has named the standout player and coach for the 30th round of the season. Midfielder Andriy Storchoys of Kudrivka earned the Player of the Round honor after scoring a brace against Dynamo Kyiv. Despite his efforts, the match ended 3-2 in favor of Dynamo. Meanwhile, Ruslan Kostyshyn of Kolos was recognized as the Coach of the Round for leading his team to a 1-0 victory over Shakhtar, with forward Ardith Tahiri netting the decisive goal.

Storchoys edged out several other contenders for the top player award, including:

  • Artur Mykytyshyn from LNZ
  • Ardit Tahiri from Kolos
  • Matviy Ponomarenko from Dynamo
  • Roman Vantukh from Zorya

In the coaching category, Kostyshyn surpassed LNZ's head coach Vitaliy Ponomaryov, who guided his team to a 1-0 win over Obolon and secured the club's first-ever silver medal in the UPL. Viktor Skrypnyk of Zorya finished third in the rankings after his side defeated Karpaty 2-1.

Team of the Round for Matchday 30

The symbolic Team of the Round features players from eight different clubs. Kolos and Zorya each have two representatives, while Metalist 1925, LNZ, Kudrivka, Karpaty, and Dynamo are each represented by one player. The squad is arranged in a 4-4-2 formation:

A total of 27 players and eight coaches were evaluated by experts to determine the round's top performers.

Additionally, Dynamo forward Matviy Ponomarenko finished as the UPL season's top scorer, netting 13 goals in 15 matches. In a separate development, Lviv-based Rukh announced it will withdraw from the Premier League and skip the relegation playoffs, opting to continue playing in the Second Division.

This round highlights the intense competition at the top of the UPL standings, where clubs are battling not only for titles but also for spots in European competitions.

Rukh's decision to leave the Premier League underscores the financial challenges some clubs face, which could impact their future growth. The situation demands attention, as it may shift the balance of power within the league.

In addition to recognizing the standout player and coach, the league also unveiled the symbolic Team of the Round, showcasing the best talents from various clubs this matchday. This highlights the competitive spirit within the league, as several players made significant contributions to their teams' performances.
