The State of Ukraine's Fuel Market

Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko held a meeting with major fuel market operators to discuss the current situation. Svyrydenko stated that the market has sufficient fuel reserves and that the recent surge in public demand is now subsiding.

"Our goal is to ensure fuel for all consumers. An unconditional priority remains the uninterrupted supply for the Defense Forces, emergency services, and agricultural producers due to the start of the planting season," she emphasized.

Support Programs and Fuel Prices

The government is also preparing new targeted support programs for vulnerable citizens. Specifically, a one-time payment of 1,500 hryvnias is planned. Furthermore, a fuel cashback scheme is envisaged within the National Cashback program. These measures aim to ease the financial burden on the population during a difficult period. This comes as Ukraine continues to manage its economy under the strain of ongoing conflict.

As of March 16, 2026, the largest gas station chains have kept prices largely unchanged. The average price for A-95 gasoline hovers around 69.62 hryvnias per liter, while the average price for diesel is 76.35 hryvnias per liter. At individual stations:

  • Diesel fuel has become cheaper by approximately 1-2 hryvnias per liter;
  • Autogas has dropped in price by about one hryvnia;
  • The most expensive A95 gasoline is sold at Okko, WOG, and Socar networks;
  • The cheapest A95 gasoline is offered by BRSM-Nafta;
  • The highest price for diesel is recorded at Klo, and the lowest at BRSM-Nafta.

Additionally, Yuliia Svyrydenko instructed the leadership of the Antimonopoly Committee and the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection to continue monitoring price levels in the Ukrainian market and to intervene if necessary upon detecting violations, while not hindering normal business operations.

"We have agreed with the heads of key operators on further joint steps to ensure a stable market situation," she added.

The situation on Ukraine's fuel market remains under government control, as evidenced by the meetings held and price monitoring initiatives. The introduced support programs for vulnerable segments of the population may help reduce the financial burden during a challenging economic time. Ensuring a steady fuel supply for critical sectors like defense and agriculture remains vital for the country's stability under current conditions.

In light of the government's new initiatives, understanding the current fuel pricing landscape is crucial for consumers. Recent reports indicate a significant fluctuation in fuel costs, with notable changes in gasoline and diesel prices across various stations.
