Review of state assistance for IDPs
The government will review the mechanism for providing state assistance for the housing of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in response to the calls of the Association of Frontline Cities and Communities. In particular, the organization demands the introduction of a differentiated approach to payments, taking into account the level of danger in regions near the front.
The head of the Association and the mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, noted that housing assistance should be adjusted depending on the security situation. Currently, the monthly assistance for adults is 2,000 hryvnias, while for children and persons with disabilities, it is 3,000 hryvnias. In Kharkiv, where 210,000 IDPs are registered, over 6.8 thousand displaced persons live in 54 designated temporary accommodation hostels.
Other important areas of support
Among other important areas that need attention are the development of social housing and support for municipal long-term rental programs for displaced persons. These initiatives can significantly improve the living conditions of IDPs in Ukraine, especially in frontline cities where the situation remains challenging.
The review of state assistance for IDPs is an important step in response to changing security conditions and social needs. Adapting payments to the real risks faced by displaced persons in frontline regions can reduce their financial burden and provide greater support in crisis conditions. The implementation of social housing and long-term rental programs also underscores the state's commitment to the most vulnerable segments of the population, which is critically important in the context of ongoing conflicts and humanitarian challenges in Ukraine.
