Redistribution of international aid in Kharkiv region

The government has made a decision to redistribute international aid to complete three restoration projects in the Kharkiv region by 2025. As part of these projects, the restoration of 977 apartments is planned, allowing over 2000 residents to return to their homes.

Funding for the projects is provided from the funds received in previous years within the framework of the Financing Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the European Union. The importance of these initiatives was emphasized by Oleksiy Kuleba, who noted that resources should be directed where they are needed most:

‘Restored homes will become residences for hundreds of families who will be able to return to their communities’

These steps are important for supporting the resilience of people and developing frontline areas amid war.

Importance of international support

The redistribution of international aid and the restoration of housing in the Kharkiv region reflect the government’s efforts to improve living conditions for those affected by the conflict. The restoration of infrastructure and housing stock is critical for stabilizing the region, as the return of residents to restored homes will contribute to the recovery of the social structure of communities and reduce the consequences of war. It also highlights the importance of international support in the context of the protracted conflict in Ukraine.
