Daria Marchak Joins the Supervisory Board of Energoatom

On February 25, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers appointed Daria Marchak to the supervisory board of the National Atomic Energy Company (NAEK) Energoatom. She assumes the role of state representative, succeeding Serhiy Sukhomlyn, who vacated the position at his own request. This appointment was made through a Nomination Committee, which includes representatives from several ministries and international organizations.

Daria Marchak currently serves as Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine. Her professional background includes serving as First Deputy Minister of Social Policy and as the Chief Operating Officer of the ProZorro.Sales platform. Her expertise spans analytical work, public finance, and cooperation with international financial institutions, notably the World Bank.

The goal of her appointment is to strengthen corporate governance, enhance transparency, accountability, and improve the management efficiency of state-owned assets. This move is part of broader reforms in Ukraine's energy sector, which is critical for national security and economic stability.

Candidate Selection and the New Supervisory Board Composition

The selection of candidates for this position was conducted by a Nomination Committee, with its activities coordinated by the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture. The committee's membership includes representatives from:

  • The Ministry of Finance
  • The Ministry of Energy
  • Non-voting independent observers from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
  • The International Finance Corporation (IFC)
  • The European Union Delegation to Ukraine
  • The Business Ombudsman of Ukraine

In January of this year, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers had already approved a new supervisory board composition for Energoatom, as announced by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.
