One-Time Financial Support for Pensioners and Social Aid Recipients
The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has approved a resolution to provide a one-time payment of 1500 hryvnias (UAH) in April 2026 to specific groups of pensioners and social benefit recipients. This payment will be made automatically, with no application required from those eligible.
Resolution No. 341, titled 'On Certain Issues of Providing a One-Time Cash Payment to Specific Categories of the Population,' was adopted on March 18, 2026. Eligibility is determined by an individual's status as of April 1, 2026, and applies to those receiving a pension or state social assistance. To qualify for this extra payment, a pensioner's monthly pension must not exceed 25,950 UAH, a figure equivalent to ten times the official subsistence minimum.
Eligible Categories for the Payment
The following categories of pension recipients are eligible for the payment:
- Old-age insurance pension;
- Disability insurance pension;
- Survivor's insurance pension;
- Long-service insurance pension;
- Special pensions for civil servants, local government officials, members of parliament, scientists, and military personnel;
- Disability and survivor pensions for military personnel, civil servants, local government officials, MPs, scientists, and individuals affected by the Chornobyl disaster;
- Social pensions.
The payment will also be granted to individuals who directly participated in Ukraine's defense, family members of those killed or missing in action, and participants in the liquidation of the Chornobyl nuclear accident consequences, regardless of their pension amount.
Furthermore, the following categories of state aid recipients are also eligible for the one-time payment:
- Subsistence allowance for internally displaced persons;
- State social assistance for low-income families;
- Basic social assistance;
- State social assistance for individuals ineligible for a pension and persons with disabilities;
- Individuals with childhood disabilities and children with disabilities;
- Temporary state assistance for individuals who have reached retirement age but are not entitled to a pension.
This new government measure is designed to provide additional financial support to vulnerable segments of the population during a period of economic strain. The hryvnia is the national currency of Ukraine, and this payment is part of broader social support efforts.
The introduction of this one-time payment is part of the state's strategy for social support of vulnerable population groups most affected by economic hardship.
It is expected to positively impact the financial well-being of pensioners and social aid recipients, potentially contributing to an improved quality of life for them.
In addition to the newly announced one-time payment for pensioners, the Ukrainian government has also introduced a similar initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable citizens. This automatic payment will benefit around 13 million individuals, ensuring that those in need receive essential financial assistance without the hassle of applying.
