Medical Facilities Support Gets an Extension

The government has decided to prolong additional assistance for medical institutions operating in active combat zones until the end of 2026. Previously, this support was only scheduled for the first half of 2026, from January 1 to June 30. The decision applies to state and municipal healthcare facilities that deliver specialized medical care in communities where hostilities are ongoing.

Financial Aid for Healthcare Institutions

Under the updated terms, medical facilities in areas of active combat will receive extra monthly payments as follows:

  • 12,000 hryvnias per doctor;
  • 9,000 hryvnias per nurse and junior medical staff member.

This financial support is designed to ensure the stable operation of healthcare facilities under challenging conditions.

Additionally, primary healthcare centers in active combat zones and sparsely populated areas will benefit from a corrective coefficient of 1.2 applied to the base capitation rate. This will further boost funding for these institutions. In 2026, for the first time, a corrective coefficient of 1.7 has been introduced for emergency medical services in rural areas, which will also improve working conditions for medical personnel in regions where the need for emergency care is especially acute.

This decision is a key step in supporting medical infrastructure in war-affected regions and underscores the government's commitment to delivering healthcare services despite difficult circumstances.

The extension of financial support and the introduction of new corrective coefficients aim to strengthen the healthcare system in conflict zones, which is critical for preserving the lives and health of the population.

In light of the ongoing support for healthcare facilities, it's essential to recognize the broader initiatives aimed at bolstering the medical workforce. Recently introduced grants for young doctors are set to expand into new regions, providing significant financial assistance. This program not only aims to attract new talent but also underscores the government's commitment to healthcare in challenging environments.
