Electricity Pricing Stability for Ukrainian Households Maintained

The Ukrainian government has decided to keep the current electricity tariffs for residential consumers in place throughout the 2026/27 heating season. This measure aims to provide price stability for households amid ongoing economic challenges. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky emphasized that the rates will remain unchanged. He stated,

“This decision reflects the current social and economic circumstances in the country. It also applies to households using electric heating, ensuring their electricity costs stay steady.”

Details of Electricity Tariffs

The standard electricity rate for households will stay at 4.32 UAH per kWh. Meanwhile, a discounted rate of 2.64 UAH per kWh continues to be available for households that rely on electric heating or those without access to natural gas or centralized heating systems. First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal confirmed,

“Ukrainians will continue paying the unchanged rate of 4.32 UAH per kWh. Additionally, the preferential tariff of 2.64 UAH per kWh remains for homes with electric heating and those lacking gas or centralized heat supply. This decision is a vital measure to support people during wartime.”

In addition, the government has extended the Special Obligations (PSO) mechanism in the electricity market until April 30, 2027. For the natural gas market, the PSO will remain effective until March 31, 2027. These extensions are designed to keep gas prices stable for households through the autumn-winter period of 2026/27, helping to maintain affordable energy amid the country’s current economic difficulties.

By prolonging fixed electricity tariffs and the PSO framework, the Ukrainian government reaffirms its commitment to easing the financial burden on citizens during the ongoing war and economic instability. Maintaining subsidized rates for households without gas access or those dependent on electric heating is especially crucial in reducing energy expenses for vulnerable consumers. These measures play a significant role in ensuring that essential energy resources remain accessible and affordable for the population.

In light of the government's decision to maintain electricity tariffs, it is essential to understand how these measures compare to the ongoing support for households. This includes the continuation of preferential rates aimed at easing energy costs during the challenging economic climate.
