Government Launches Emergency Energy Crisis Aid: Recipients of Funds and Survival Kits

Уряд оголосив про запуск програми термінової допомоги для тих, хто постраждав від енергетичної кризи, включаючи фінансову підтримку та комплекти для виживання.

Financial Aid Disbursements in Ukraine

In response to the national energy emergency, the Ukrainian government has initiated the distribution of financial assistance and material aid. The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko, announced that initial funds have been transferred to business accounts, while vulnerable citizens have received survival kits. In the hardest-hit areas, including Kyiv and its surrounding region, over 30,000 'warmth packages' containing heating and communication supplies have already been distributed, provided by the Naftogaz Group. This crisis stems from wartime damage to infrastructure and disruptions to energy supplies, creating an urgent need for support as winter approaches.

Support for Businesses and the Public

State energy giants like Energoatom and Ukrenergo have joined the relief initiative. Small businesses, specifically private entrepreneurs (FOPs of groups 2-3), have begun receiving funding. Over 18,000 applications were submitted within a week, with 14,400 already paid out by the state. The total disbursed amounts to 180.6 million hryvnias, intended for purchasing generators, fuel, and covering utility bills.

Furthermore, preferential lending has been unblocked, with banks issuing the first zero-interest loan for energy equipment worth 1.1 million hryvnias. Nearly a thousand business applications, totaling about a billion hryvnias, remain in the funding queue. Under the program for large-scale generation, covering gas turbine and piston units, 115 contracts have been signed for 2.19 billion hryvnias. Additionally, under the SvitloDim program for apartment buildings, the first 19 applications in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, totaling 5.1 million hryvnias, have been approved. Funds are transferred to applicants within two days of confirmation.

'They are already providing an additional 70,000 warmth packages for communities across Ukraine where the electricity and heating supply situation remains difficult,' - Yulia Svyrydenko.

This initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to support the population and businesses during the energy crisis, which has been exacerbated by the war and constraints on energy resource supplies. The importance of timely aid is particularly evident during the winter season, when energy demand peaks and resources are stretched thin. Rapid response and targeted funding are crucial for alleviating the plight of vulnerable groups and ensuring stability in the country's energy sector.
