Reduction of electricity outage time

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to shorten the electricity outage time for household consumers by reducing the number of critical infrastructure facilities that are not subject to scheduled outages. This decision aims to improve the electricity supply situation for the population, which suffers from frequent outages.

Critically important facilities

Critical facilities that are exempt from outages include:

  • security and defense facilities,
  • communication facilities,
  • hospitals,
  • electricity importers.

According to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, there are currently three queues of scheduled outages, and many consumers are on lines with critically important facilities. The disconnection of such consumers does not apply, which causes dissatisfaction among those who remain without electricity.

This indicates the government's efforts to optimize electricity supply and reduce the duration of outages for the population. In the context of unstable electricity supply, it is important to consider not only critically important facilities but also recommendations for the population on preparing for possible prolonged outages. In particular, it is advisable to stock up on:

  • drinking water,
  • power banks,
  • flashlights,
  • food that does not require cooking.

Given the situation, the government hopes that these measures will help reduce hours without electricity for household consumers, which, in turn, will improve the overall level of comfort and safety for the population during the energy crisis.

This decision by the Cabinet of Ministers is a response to the growing demands of the population for improved electricity supply conditions. Reducing the duration of electricity outages can positively impact the daily lives of citizens, especially when uninterrupted electricity supply is critical for the operation of many businesses and social services. However, considering the energy situation in the country, the implementation of these changes will require effective coordination between government bodies and energy companies.
