Funding for the eRestore housing programme
The eRestore programme is the Ukrainian government's housing compensation mechanism for people affected by the war. The government has now allocated 5.14 billion hryvnias to compensate for homes destroyed in the conflict, with the funds flowing through this scheme. This money will allow more than 3,600 families who lost their houses to Russian attacks and have already received housing certificates to buy new homes. The financing comes from the Council of Europe Development Bank under its HOME project.
Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced the allocation. To date, more than 88,000 families have received housing certificates worth a combined 112.6 billion hryvnias. Of those, over 33,000 households have already purchased new housing, while about 55,000 are still waiting for their certificates to be funded.
“We will continue this work until every person whose home was taken by the Russians has a new place to live.” Serhiy Koretskyi
Goals of the eRestore programme
This initiative is part of the government's wider efforts to restore damaged regions and support citizens who became homeless because of the war. Its purpose is not only to provide housing for the victims but also to strengthen the economy by boosting the construction sector and creating new jobs. As the conflict continues, the importance of such programmes grows, affecting the stability and well-being of the population.
