Simplified Draft Deferrals for Domestic Energy Equipment Producers

The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has streamlined the process for granting military draft deferrals to employees of domestic manufacturers producing transformer equipment for the energy sector. This decision involves amendments to the procedure for reserving conscripted workers during the ongoing mobilization and martial law period. This move is part of broader efforts to protect the industrial base essential for national resilience.

Specifically, the government has refined its approach to classifying enterprises as critically important. Domestic producers of energy transformer equipment can now qualify for this vital status by meeting two or more established criteria, rather than a more restrictive set of requirements.

We must retain the specialists who ensure the operation of enterprises in the energy sector. The adopted changes allow transformer equipment manufacturers to operate stably and without interruption, enabling the state to respond promptly to challenges.

This decision aims to ensure stability in the operation of the country's energy sector amid current wartime pressures. A reliable domestic supply of transformers and related equipment is crucial for maintaining and repairing Ukraine's power grid, which has been a frequent target of Russian attacks.

By simplifying the reservation procedure, the government seeks to support domestic industry in critical sectors like energy. This policy is expected to positively impact the stability of Ukraine's energy supply and mitigate risks associated with workforce shortages in key industries during the war with Russia.
