Meeting with Agricultural Leaders
Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi and the President met with representatives from the agricultural sector to address support strategies amid ongoing Russian aggression in the Black Sea region. During this session, the government introduced an initial set of urgent measures aimed at stabilizing agricultural operations.
The key initiatives include:
- Allocating an additional 6 billion UAH in affordable loans for farmers through the "Affordable Loans 5-7-9%" program;
- Lowering the minimum export prices for grain and oilseed crops;
- Revising the National Bank of Ukraine’s lending requirements for agricultural producers.
In collaboration with international partners, efforts are underway to strengthen alternative logistics routes and restore safe maritime navigation.
Prime Minister Koretskyi expressed gratitude to producers, stating: “Thank you to all producers who continue their work — ensuring budget revenues and preserving jobs. Our priority is to swiftly adopt decisions that today’s farmers, businesses, and the entire economy urgently need.”
Discussions also focused on prioritizing rail transport for specific agricultural products, securing export channels, and developing insurance frameworks for vessels. The government intends to finalize necessary actions shortly following this meeting.
Crucial Role of Agriculture
This gathering highlights the agricultural sector’s vital role in Ukraine’s economy, especially during wartime when supply chain security and financial backing for producers are essential. The measures adopted are expected to significantly ease the financial burden on farmers, helping to maintain sector stability and thereby strengthen the country’s food security.
