Over 200 Modular Boilers Get $3 Billion Government Greenlight Ahead of Heating Season

Більше 200 модульних котлів отримали схвалення уряду на суму $3 мільярди перед початком опалювального сезону.

Funding for Modular Boiler Installations

Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has approved a $3 billion UAH allocation from the reserve fund to install 216 block-modular boilers. Of this sum, 966 million UAH will go to the Recovery Agency for projects in Kyiv, while over 2 billion UAH will be distributed to regions under their resilience plans. Crucially, all equipment must be operational by October 1, highlighting the urgent need for action before the heating season begins.

Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko stated: 'The key task for all regional administrations and communities is to quickly install and launch these facilities before the heating season starts. All equipment must be commissioned no later than October 1.'

Competition for New Generation Capacity

Additionally, the government is launching a competition to build over 1.3 GW of new generation capacity. The Cabinet is also spearheading the creation of a national reserve of autonomous generation, which will include:

  • mobile power plants
  • cogeneration units
  • boilers
  • transformers
  • other equipment

These measures aim to streamline procedures for building and restoring energy infrastructure across Ukraine.

This funding for boiler installations is part of the government’s strategic push to bolster the country’s energy security amid heightened risks before the heating season. By advancing new generation capacity and establishing an autonomous generation reserve, the government is working to reduce reliance on centralized power systems—a critical step given current challenges.

As the government accelerates efforts to enhance energy infrastructure, the establishment of an emergency power reserve is equally vital. This initiative is designed to mitigate the risks of blackouts during the upcoming heating season.
