Funding to Enhance Backup Information Systems
The Ukrainian government has approved a budget of 518.3 million hryvnias to reinforce backup information systems within state institutions. These funds, drawn from the reserve fund, aim to ensure rapid restoration of systems and services in the event of Russian cyberattacks targeting the country’s digital infrastructure.
The allocated resources will support:
- the establishment of geographically separated backup environments and facilities;
- the expansion of cloud infrastructure;
- the procurement of server hardware and software;
- the implementation of backup and recovery systems.
"We must be prepared for all scenarios, especially the worst," emphasized Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky.
This initiative is part of Ukraine’s broader cybersecurity strategy aimed at safeguarding continuous government operations amid growing cyber threats. Investing in resilient backup systems significantly reduces the risks posed by cyberattacks and strengthens the overall stability of the nation’s digital framework.
