Initiative to Distribute Portable Power Stations
The Ukrainian government is launching a program to provide portable power stations to families with children who have a 'Subgroup A' disability classification. A total of 10,000 units, each with an approximate capacity of 2 kWh, have been purchased. The first 4,000 stations have already been dispatched via Ukrposhta, the national postal service, with the remainder to be delivered soon. This initiative addresses critical energy needs for vulnerable families, especially in areas with unstable power supply.
Eligibility Criteria for Assistance
To qualify for this aid, families must meet specific requirements. The mandatory criteria are:
- Having a child under the age of 18;
- The child must hold a 'Subgroup A' disability status;
- The family must reside within Ukraine;
- A separate application must be submitted for each eligible child.
Applications for assistance will be accepted until April 1, 2026.
The application process involves several stages. First, an application must be submitted to a service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, accompanied by a copy of the document confirming the child's disability status. The Pension Fund then verifies the information and compiles a list of recipients every Friday. This list is forwarded to the Decarbonisation Fund, which subsequently provides the data and the power stations to Ukrposhta. Families who complete all stages can collect their portable power stations from designated Ukrposhta branches.
This program represents a significant step in supporting families with disabled children, particularly in conditions of limited access to electricity and other resources.
These portable power stations can substantially ease daily life for such families, enabling them to power essential medical and household devices. The program's extension until 2026 allows parents to plan their budgets and secure necessary resources for their children over the long term.
