Support for Ukraine's Food Producers
In response to sudden electricity blackouts, the Ukrainian government has moved to support the nation's food producers. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has instructed the State Emergency Service (SES) to urgently develop plans for providing short-term power supply to these critical enterprises. This initiative is designed to mitigate the damaging impact of power loss on the food industry, a vital sector for domestic stability. This action is part of a broader strategy to protect essential services from the effects of Russia's ongoing attacks on energy infrastructure.
A special operations center, coordinated by Oleksii Sobolev and Taras Vysotskyi, is functioning within the Ministry of Economy. A key element of the plan involves strengthening coordination between the SES and regional food producers to build up rapid-response food reserves. This enhanced collaboration aims to ensure a stable supply of food products reaches the market, even during unpredictable emergency situations.
Addressing Energy Requirements
Yuliia Svyrydenko has also tasked the Ministry of Energy and the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) with facilitating the connection and activation of power generation units at food production facilities. Currently, Ukraine has sufficient food supplies, and its domestic production capacity exceeds internal consumption needs. This indicates that the country's food industry is capable of providing the population with necessary products, even amidst a challenging power supply situation.
Furthermore, assistance from 18 countries has provided Ukraine with vital energy equipment, playing a crucial role in supporting the stability of the national grid. It is important to note that since October 2025, the Russian Federation has damaged 8.5 GW of Ukraine's power generation capacity, underscoring the critical importance of the government's countermeasures.

The Ukrainian government's measures are focused on ensuring stability within the food industry during an energy crisis triggered by Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
