Free rehabilitation and recreation for children of veterans and IDPs
The Government of Ukraine is introducing free rehabilitation and recreation for children of war veterans and internally displaced persons (IDPs). This initiative is being implemented as part of a state program approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1435. The program aims to provide support to children affected by the war, giving them the opportunity for recreation and rehabilitation.
Children who can receive free rehabilitation include:
- military personnel,
- police officers,
- rescuers,
- internally displaced persons.
In particular, this category includes children of military personnel from the State Border Guard Service and the National Guard of Ukraine, as well as children of police officers and personnel of the civil protection service. Additionally, children of war veterans who have special merits to the Motherland can also benefit from this privilege. Rehabilitation is intended for children aged 7 to 18 years.
Organization of recreation and financing of the program
Recreation is organized in facilities in the western regions of Ukraine, namely in Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernivtsi regions. A total of 91.5 million hryvnias is allocated for the implementation of the program for the rehabilitation and recreation of children, and funding will be carried out by the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities.
The mechanism for implementing the program will operate on the principle of 'money follows the child', which will ensure the most efficient use of allocated funds. To access the service, parents will need to follow established procedures, ensuring transparency and accessibility of the program for all who are eligible for free rehabilitation. Thus, the government of Ukraine is trying to support families affected by the war, guaranteeing children the opportunity to rest and rehabilitate.
This program is an important step in supporting families who have faced difficulties due to the war and underscores the state's commitment to social justice.
Providing free rehabilitation for children of veterans and internally displaced persons can significantly improve their psychological and emotional state, as well as facilitate adaptation to post-war conditions. It is important that the program works effectively and reaches those who need help the most.
