On December 10, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the Operational Plan for the implementation of Ukraine's Water Strategy for 2025-2027. This document contains a set of priority measures in the field of water security and sustainable water resource management, taking into account climate challenges and the consequences of Russia's armed aggression.

The planned measures in the coming years will help reduce the risks of diseases related to the consumption of low-quality drinking water, invest in the modernization of water supply and sewage systems, improve the treatment of urban wastewater and their integration into community development, as well as reduce the danger to aquatic ecosystems and fisheries.

Particular attention will be paid to increasing water efficiency in industry, agriculture, and the housing and communal services sector, reducing freshwater losses, strengthening control over the use of water resources, and improving their accounting.

'The Operational Plan will be the next step in implementing Ukraine's Water Strategy until 2050, facilitating the transition from theoretical concepts to the practical implementation of European standards for water resource management,' the document states.
