The government increases compensation for the accommodation of IDPs: what has changed for communities

Уряд підвищує виплати на проживання переселенців: нові можливості для громад.

Compensation for internally displaced persons

The government of Ukraine has made a decision to compensate expenses for institutions that temporarily accommodate internally displaced persons (IDPs). This includes reimbursement for utility payments and fuel purchases. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported on improving conditions for IDPs, emphasizing the importance of ensuring decent and comfortable living conditions for people who have been forced to leave their homes due to Russian aggression.

New compensation conditions

According to the new conditions, compensation will be provided even in cases where people do not yet have IDP status and are restoring documents. The duration of compensation will be up to two months from the date of application submission, and actual time spent by IDPs in temporary accommodation will also be taken into account. The process of confirming expenses is being simplified: receipts and invoices are sufficient for this.

  • Increase in the norm of social housing area for heating compensation to 21 square meters.

Thus, the new government decisions are aimed at supporting both internally displaced persons and the institutions and communities that accept them. These steps can significantly alleviate the financial burden on communities accommodating IDPs and improve the conditions of their temporary residence, ensuring more effective adaptation to new circumstances.

Support for internally displaced persons is an important aspect of Ukraine's social policy in the context of ongoing aggression, requiring comprehensive solutions at all levels of governance.
