Financing the Defense Forces of Ukraine
Serhiy Koretsky reported that all internal tax revenues are directed towards the security and defense sector. According to him, the government continues to work on ensuring financing for the Defense Forces until the end of the current year. For this purpose, a meeting was held with key officials, including:
- Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council
- Minister of Finance
- Acting Minister of Defense
- Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service
- Minister of Internal Affairs
At the meeting, the updated need for financing the Defense Forces was discussed. Koretsky emphasized:
“Today a separate meeting was held with the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, the Minister of Finance, the Acting Minister of Defense, the Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, and the Minister of Internal Affairs.” - Serhiy Koretsky
He also noted that “All internal tax revenues, as before, will be directed to the needs of the security and defense sector.”
The government plans to attract additional resources, specifically from international partners. Koretsky added:
“The government will work on finding additional resources, including with the involvement of assistance from our international partners.” - Serhiy Koretsky
A vision for financing the Defense Forces for the next year has already been formed, and work continues on the comprehensive formation of the 2027 Budget.
The situation with financing the security and defense sector remains critically important for Ukraine, especially in the face of growing challenges. The involvement of international partners and the active work of the government on the budget indicate intentions to ensure stable financing, which is necessary to support the country's defense capabilities in current conditions.
As the government prioritizes funding for the security and defense sector, the impact of ongoing conflicts becomes increasingly evident. A recent report highlighted that over 400,000 school textbooks were destroyed due to Russian attacks, illustrating the broader consequences of the war on Ukraine's education system.
