Registration Announcement for Cash Assistance
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced the opening of registration for cash assistance for residents of the city of Romny in Sumy Oblast. Registration is scheduled for January 29, 2026. This financial support, amounting to 10,800 hryvnias per person, is intended for the most vulnerable population groups, including pensioners and single parents with low incomes who have not received other international assistance in the last three months.
Assistance Eligibility Criteria
Assistance is provided to internally displaced persons who have obtained this status within the last six months, as well as to people who have returned to Ukraine from abroad. To qualify, the income per family member must not exceed 6,300 hryvnias. The total payment is calculated for three months, which equates to 3,600 hryvnias per month for each household member. This program is part of broader international efforts to aid civilians affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Registration will be conducted by prior appointment at the following address: 13 Soborna Street (shelter near the TsNAP). To schedule an appointment, call 063 182 68 38. The phone line is operational from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Specifically, the assistance targets:
- Families with a single parent;
- Individuals living alone aged 55 and over;
- Households that include persons with disabilities or severe chronic illnesses.
This UNHCR initiative forms part of the international community's efforts to support vulnerable groups in Ukraine, particularly amid the economic hardships and social challenges faced by residents of the region. The cash assistance is designed to alleviate the financial burden on struggling families and ensure their basic needs are met. The importance of such support continues to grow due to persistent instability and the need for recovery, which will contribute to the ongoing improvement of social protection for vulnerable populations.
