На кордоні зі Словаччиною відкрито новий пішохідний маршрут між Ужгородом та Високим Німецьким.

Uzhhorod – Vysne Nemetske: pedestrian crossing opened at the border with Slovakia

On January 14, the official opening of the pedestrian crossing at the international border point 'Uzhhorod – Vysne Nemetske' took place on the Ukrainian-Slovak border. It is important to note that customs control for pedestrians began on January 3. As of today, about 4 thousand citizens have been processed and allowed to cross, of which more than 2600 people crossed the border into Ukraine, and about 1500 people departed from Ukraine.

The capacity of the new pedestrian crossing is designed for 1200 people per day. This opening is an important step in the development of border infrastructure, as plans for 2023 include continuing the expansion of this infrastructure and completing the reconstruction of the passenger route.

Development of railway connections

In addition, Ukraine and Slovakia have agreed on the development of railway connections, which includes the launch of a new night train to Prague and two pairs of daytime flights between Košice and Uzhhorod. These changes are aimed at facilitating movement between the countries and promoting cross-border cooperation.

“The opening of the pedestrian crossing between Ukraine and Slovakia is an important stage in strengthening the ties between the two countries.”

This not only improves the mobility of citizens but also contributes to the development of economic relations and cultural exchange. Considering the plans for further infrastructure development and railway connections, one can expect an increase in the flow of tourists and businessmen between Ukraine and Slovakia, positively impacting both economies.
