In Chernivtsi, starting from March 16, the fare in city buses will change. The new tariff will be 17 hryvnias, and for students — 8 hryvnias. The increase is explained by the sharp rise in fuel prices. This is reported by Suspilne Chernivtsi.
The fare in Chernivtsi buses has increased
The decision to change the tariff was made by the executive committee of the Chernivtsi City Council on March 10. It was supported by eight committee members.
The new transport prices are:
-
17 hryvnias — standard tariff;
-
8 hryvnias — for school children.
This tariff will be temporary and will be valid from March 16 to April 15. By March 20, carriers must submit calculations of the economically justified tariff to the city transport department.
Reasons for the tariff increase in Chernivtsi
Local carriers explain the increase by the sharp rise in fuel prices. According to entrepreneur Stepan Kostash, who services route No. 20, the costs of diesel have significantly increased.
«Two weeks ago I refueled the transport at 56 hryvnias per liter, and now — at 76 hryvnias. I have already had to postpone repairs and even take loans for fuel», — says the carrier.
Other carriers also report that due to the increase in fuel prices, there are difficulties in servicing transport and purchasing spare parts.
According to entrepreneurs, without an increase in the tariff, some routes could only operate during peak hours — in the morning and in the evening.
The city authorities consider the new price as temporary and plan to review the tariff after receiving economic calculations from the carriers.
Let us remind you, in Zhytomyr, the authorities stated that no decision had been made to increase the fare for public transport. Currently, the fare for private carriers on city routes remains at 15 UAH.
