In Ivano-Frankivsk, air conditioners are installed in 115 out of 157 units of public transport. The best-equipped are the buses, while in the trolleybus fleet, only every second vehicle has cooling systems. This was reported by the deputy head of the community, Mykhailo Smushak.
Air conditioners in Ivano-Frankivsk buses: 75 out of 81 vehicles
According to KP «Electroavtotrans», 75 municipal buses out of 81 are equipped with air conditioners. This is 93% of the bus fleet, so in hot weather, passengers can more often expect a trip in a cooled cabin, especially on public routes.
At the same time, the presence of equipment does not always mean that it will operate in a specific vehicle. The performance of the system depends on the technical condition of the transport, maintenance, and faults that may arise during operation.
Ivano-Frankivsk trolleybuses: only half of the fleet has air conditioners
Among 76 municipal trolleybuses, 38 are equipped with air conditioners. This is 50% of the rolling stock. The trolleybus fleet currently needs the most updates in terms of passenger comfort on hot days.
Overall, air conditioners are present in 73% of the city's public transport. The remaining 42 vehicles do not have such systems, so the temperature inside during summer depends on open windows, occupancy, and the duration of the route.
Private carriers in Ivano-Frankivsk have older buses
The city authorities note that most buses of private carriers are not equipped with air conditioners. This concerns approximately 90 vehicles, mostly of older models.
The fleet renewal is ongoing, but its pace is limited by the financial capabilities of the community in times of martial law. In spring, the city received nine new trolleybuses with autonomous drive as part of a project supported by the European Investment Bank and the EU reported the Ministry of Development.
For passengers, the figures mean one simple thing: the chances of getting onto a municipal bus with an air conditioner are significantly higher than in a trolleybus or a private minibus.
It should be noted that on May 13, Russian troops struck a residential building in Ivano-Frankivsk with a drone, resulting in four people being injured.
