Heavy rain complicated movement in several areas of Odessa. Due to flooding, a fallen tree, and the work of special equipment, part of the streets were closed or narrowed for traffic, and two tram routes changed their operation. This is reported by the Odessa City Council.

Which roads were closed in Odessa on July 22

Traffic was temporarily stopped at 34 French Boulevard due to a fallen tree. Utility services are clearing it from the roadway, after which the section is expected to be opened for traffic.

Traffic on Balkivska Street was restricted due to flooding near the bus station. This concerns the segment from Malovskyi Street to the Righteous of the World Street, which was previously named Chervonoslobidska.

Temporary restrictions have also been imposed on the following sections:

  • Primorska Street from Gazovyi Lane to Viiskovyi Uzvoz;
  • French Boulevard from Hulyho-Hulenko Street to Lesya Ukrainka Avenue;
  • Serednofontanska Street from Serednofontanska Square to Lunnyi Lane.

After the rain stopped, utility workers continued eliminating flooding and clearing roads. Due to special equipment, traffic may be slower on Inhles Street near houses No. 10 and No. 14, on Academician Filatov Street, 90, and on Lustdorfskyi Road, 11.

The city authorities advise drivers to plan trips in advance and consider the road closures. Drivers are requested not to leave vehicles under trees and on the grids of storm drains, as this hinders water drainage.

Weather conditions have also affected the operation of urban electric transport. Tram No. 1 is temporarily running through Khersonskyi Park, so passengers should consider the change in the usual route.

The movement of tram No. 20 has been suspended. During the restrictions, its route is serviced by a shuttle taxi. The timeframe for the resumption of normal traffic has not yet been announced by the city council.

Utility services in Odessa are working in an enhanced mode. Although the rain has subsided, work is still ongoing on the flooded sections, so the situation on the roads may change throughout the day.

Recall that spokesperson of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk, warned about the danger of visiting prohibited areas along the Odessa coastline due to mine threats.
