Drone Incident in Odesa

Authorities in Odesa successfully neutralized a 50-kilogram drone warhead that had become embedded in the wall of a high-rise building at the 15th-floor level. The warhead did not detonate upon impact. Using a specialized lift, Mykhailo Berlinsky, head of the explosive ordnance disposal unit of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast, safely extracted the hazardous device. The warhead was manually defused and removed from the site.

Expert Response and Safety Guidelines

Emergency service personnel from the State Emergency Service (DSNS) inspected the drone debris for dangerous substances and radiation. Following this, the ordnance was handed over to pyrotechnic experts for controlled destruction. In the event of encountering suspicious items, residents are advised to:

  • Keep a safe distance from the object;
  • Avoid touching it;
  • Immediately call 101 or 102 for assistance.

This incident underscores the critical need for caution when encountering suspicious objects, especially amid the ongoing conflict. The successful disposal of the drone warhead highlights the high level of readiness and professionalism demonstrated by Ukrainian security services in responding to threats swiftly. Citizens are urged to follow expert recommendations to prevent dangerous situations.

This incident is part of a troubling pattern, as evidenced by a recent event where a Russian drone struck a 24-story building in Odesa, also impacting the 15th floor. Such occurrences highlight the ongoing risks posed by drone warfare in urban areas, emphasizing the importance of preparedness and vigilance among the local population.
