Workshop of UNHCR Ukraine and the UN Refugee Agency
A workshop of UNHCR Ukraine and the UN Refugee Agency was held in Ukraine, dedicated to social adaptation in temporary accommodation (TA). The Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity, Tetyana Kiryienko, participated and shared information about the existing support mechanisms for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and further steps in this area.
Assistance in temporary accommodation
At TA, people can receive assistance with:
- document recovery
- social and international support arrangements
- legal and psychological consultations
- medical services
Support is provided based on the individual needs of each person. In this process, multidisciplinary teams, social sector specialists, community and charitable organizations participate.
A specific area of comprehensive support for IDPs is implemented at sanatoriums in Truskavets and Myrhorod. The following services are available in these facilities:
- temporary accommodation
- supported living
- inpatient care
For individuals requiring additional support due to health conditions, long-term nursing care services and shelters for people with limited mobility are also available.
This event emphasizes the importance of social adaptation and support for internally displaced persons in Ukraine, especially in the context of the ongoing challenges faced by these individuals. The workshop also demonstrates the efforts of governmental and international organizations in ensuring proper conditions for IDPs, which is critically important for restoring their lives and integrating them into society.
In light of the ongoing efforts to support internally displaced persons, new inclusive housing initiatives are being developed in the Vinnytsia region. These initiatives aim to enhance the living conditions for those affected by displacement, furthering the comprehensive assistance discussed at the recent UN workshop. Such measures are crucial for facilitating the social integration and well-being of IDPs across Ukraine.
