Record Heat in Western Europe
We remind you that June 2025 was the hottest in the history of Western Europe. The average temperature reached +20.49°C, which is 2.8°C higher than the average for 1991-2020, and 0.06°C exceeds the previous record of 2003. A new study shows that climate change tripled the number of deaths during the 'quietly destructive' heatwave that engulfed Europe at the end of June. Preliminary analysis covering twelve major cities identified 2300 deaths, of which 1500 are directly related to the climate crisis.
Western Europe broke the temperature record in June 2025, further confirming the rise of negative consequences of climate change on our planet. A new study indicates an increase in mortality related to heat, which is becoming increasingly deadly due to global warming.
