Ukrainian motorists have received updated information about age requirements for obtaining driver's licenses. The Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs officially reminded about the existing restrictions that determine who can drive various categories of vehicles and at what age.
The most lenient conditions are established for young enthusiasts of two-wheeled transport. Already at the age of 16, Ukrainians can officially take the wheel of mopeds and motorcycles. However, to drive cars, one will have to wait until they come of age.
Gradual Expansion of Opportunities
- 16 years - the right to drive mopeds and motorcycles
- 18 years - access to category 'B', ATVs, and trucks weighing up to 7.5 tons (category 'C')
- 19 years - permission to drive vehicles with heavy trailers (categories BE and CE)
- 21 years - the possibility of obtaining a license for buses and minibuses
Failure to comply with established rules is subject to serious financial penalties. A teenager who takes the wheel at 16 without the proper documents will pay a fine of 3400 hryvnias. Especially strict rules apply to children under 16 years of age - in this case, their parents bear full responsibility.
To obtain a driver's license, successfully passing comprehensive testing at the Service Centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs remains mandatory. Candidates must confirm their knowledge in a theoretical exam and demonstrate practical driving skills. It is important to remember: regardless of the level of training, licenses will not be issued to individuals who have not reached the established age for the chosen category of transport.
The announcement regarding age requirements for obtaining driver's licenses in Ukraine emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules and the serious consequences of violating these requirements. Knowing and following the established requirements is an important step in ensuring safety and discipline on the country's roads.
