In Ukraine, a shortage of pears is expected: the harvest decreased by 10% due to frosts

В Україні прогнозується дефіцит груш: зібраний врожай впав на 10% через приморозки.

Ukrainian farmers gathered with sorrow when they found out that pears would become a luxury this year due to the May frosts that damaged about 10% of the orchards in the Vinnytsia region. Despite the smaller harvest, farmers expect prices to rise. In this area, pear plantations occupy a total of 250 hectares.

At the premises of the 'Ivanivska Kalyna' farm in the village of Ivaniv, Khmilnyk district, the collection of pears is coming to an end. The orchard has been yielding fruit for the third consecutive year. Three varieties of pears are grown on an area of 14 hectares. Although the May frosts caused some damage to the blossoms, specialists hope for a price increase due to the shortage of fruits.

Ukrainian farmers are forced to face an unforeseen challenge in the form of May frosts, which may lead to a shortage of pears in the market. Despite this, their hopes for rising prices remain alive, and they are doing everything possible to collect at least a minimal harvest.
