During the first half of 2025, an inspection of the water supply system in Ukraine was conducted, revealing a number of issues. Inspectors from the State Food and Consumer Service checked nearly a thousand enterprises and over 7,700 water supply facilities, finding violations of sanitary norms at 69% of the inspected facilities.

Violations of sanitary norms were found at 69% of the inspected water supply facilities (53,288).

The country monitors the status of 2,610 enterprises that provide centralized drinking water supply, as well as 45,337 various water supply facilities. Regarding sewage systems, violations were found at 10 out of 42 inspected sewage facilities.

Results of Laboratory Research

Laboratory tests showed that out of 700,000 analyzed water samples, more than 23,500 samples from centralized sources and about 1,200 from non-centralized water supply sources did not meet standards. Overall, only 40% of the orders to eliminate violations in the water supply system have been fulfilled.

As a result of the inspection of the water supply system in Ukraine, a significant number of violations of sanitary norms were found both at water supply facilities and in sewage systems. Laboratory tests additionally confirmed the non-compliance of a large amount of water with quality standards. The government and relevant agencies must continue to work on eliminating these issues to ensure all citizens have access to quality and safe drinking water.
