The Ministry of Veterans Affairs has announced that residents of liberated Ukrainian territories who have suffered from the war can obtain disability status. Amendments to resolutions No. 917 and No. 306, introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, expand the ability to obtain this status.

These changes concern the civilian population that has been injured by explosive items. From now on, disability status due to war can be granted not only to residents of territories controlled by Ukraine, but also to those who have suffered injuries from explosive items as a result of Russia's armed aggression, including those who were affected in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories that have been liberated by the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

Now, people affected in temporarily occupied territories, such as Bucha or Kherson, can apply to medical commissions to establish causal links and obtain social guarantees. This is an important step towards fair recognition of the suffering of the civilian population and ensuring social support.

The government of Ukraine has expanded the ability to obtain disability status for those who have suffered in temporarily occupied territories. This new initiative will allow people to receive the necessary support and recognition for their suffering from the war.
