The watermelon harvesting season in Ukraine has begun! Farmers from southern regions and Transcarpathia have already gone to the fields to collect this sweet berry within the usual time frames, analysts from the EastFruit project report.
Currently, prices for watermelons range from 20 to 28 hryvnias per kilogram. Although the supply volumes are still not very large, only individual farms are selling watermelons in bulk.
Experts noted that prices this season are 10% higher compared to the previous one. It is expected that mass sales of watermelons will start a little later, closer to mid-July.
Farmers warn that in the coming weeks there may be a sharp drop in prices due to increased supply. However, already on the market, you can find the first harvest of this year's Ukrainian watermelons. It should also be remembered that the prices of bananas, oranges, and lemons may also change in the summer.
Ukrainian farmers are actively harvesting watermelons, expecting the mass sale of this sweet berry to begin soon. Prices for watermelons are higher, but the demand for them remains stable, indicating the popularity of this seasonal product among consumers.
