The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plans to purchase bulletproof blankets - universal field tents that provide protection against shrapnel from shells, mines, and grenades. This information was disseminated by the press service of the military department. The new means of individual and collective protection are designed for use during movement in open terrain, covering positions, and evacuating the wounded. Delivery is planned by the end of February 2026.
The bulletproof blanket is a new means of individual and collective protection against shrapnel from shells, mines, or hand grenades, and consists of elements capable of stopping the damaging agent and dissipating its energy. It was developed in collaboration with the command of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense explained that the bulletproof blanket is made based on a multi-layer ballistic package in a waterproof cover and meets the shrapnel resistance class F5. The tent can be used both for movement in open terrain and for covering the positions of Ukrainian soldiers.
According to information from the military, the bulletproof blanket can be quickly folded and unfolded thanks to shoulder straps and the ability to fold into three to four layers.
Specifications of the bulletproof blanket:
- length - 1600-1750 mm;
- width - 700-800 mm;
- area of the ballistic package - from 126.5 dm²;
- weight - up to 11 kg;
- operating temperature - from -40 °C to +70 °C.
Each bulletproof blanket will be supplied with a waterproof protective cover, ballistic package, carrying bag, passport, and a kit for minor repairs. The government plans to purchase 5.3 thousand bulletproof blankets for a total of over 132 million UAH with delivery by the end of February 2026 and further purchases according to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Previously, the government modified the program for accessible lending for servicemen and mobilized citizens. Now all defenders of Ukraine can obtain a mortgage at 3% per annum, previously such conditions were only available to contract servicemen, medical workers, teachers, and scientists.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine intends to purchase bulletproof blankets for the military, which will help protect them from shrapnel from shells, mines, and grenades during operations in military zones. These new means of individual protection will become an important addition to the arsenal of the Ukrainian military in the fight for the country's security.
