Ukraine began a phased transition to a new military accounting document system on November 1, 2025. Now, instead of regular paper military tickets, ID cards will be used in the Armed Forces and State Special Transport. The main goal of the reform is to enhance security and simplify the accounting procedure for military personnel.
What an ID card means
The new ID card looks the same as a military identification card, but has an electronic carrier for protection and reading information. Furthermore, it has a digital version in the 'Army+' application for user convenience.
How to obtain and replace an ID card
ID cards are issued only to military personnel, reservists are not eligible. Manufacturing can take up to 20 days, but during mobilization, a temporary certificate can be obtained within 5 days. The card can be replaced in case of loss, damage, expiration, or change of personal data.
The validity of the ID card is 10 years, and it can be replaced in case of data changes, damage, or loss. The Ministry of Defense also plans to provide more details about the new accounting system for military personnel.
