In Uzhgorod, new traffic rules were introduced on certain streets of the city starting April 18. Special dedicated lanes have appeared on the roads, aimed at reducing congestion and speeding up public transport movement. This is reported by Uzhgorod.in.
Dedicated lanes in Uzhgorod: where new rules took effect
The pilot project was implemented on Mytnaya and Zakarpattia streets. Separate lanes for priority transport have been established. The main goal of the changes is to reduce delays in areas with high traffic and improve public transport operations.
The city authorities expect that the new measures will help make bus movement more stable and predictable, especially during rush hours when traffic jams occur most often.
Who can use the special lanes in Uzhgorod
The dedicated lanes are allowed only for certain categories of road users:

passenger buses and route taxis;

cyclists;

moped drivers.
Other vehicles are restricted from using these lanes.
The introduction of special lanes is a test step. If the decision proves effective and positively impacts the traffic situation, similar lanes may appear on other congested highways in the city. In particular, they are planned to be established on Svobody Avenue.
The city council notes that the problem of traffic jams on key streets has long needed a systematic solution, and prioritizing public transport is considered one of the most effective approaches to relieving road congestion.
