Harsh Conditions for Nastia and Her Family
For over 30 hours, a woman in her seventh month of pregnancy has been living without electricity, elevator service, or proper heating on the 21st floor of a Kyiv high-rise. Nastia's apartment is cold, the radiators are barely warm, and the building's water supply is sometimes cut off for days at a time. This situation is a stark example of the hardships many Ukrainians face due to Russia's ongoing attacks on the country's energy infrastructure.
Nastia is expecting twins, which adds significant difficulty to her daily life. Despite the challenges, she strives to stay active, even conducting online fitness sessions during blackouts. As she explains:
“I go outside, listen to an audiobook or a podcast, and just breathe.”
Psychological Resilience and Community Support
She also emphasizes the crucial role of psychological adaptation, stating: “The most important thing is psychological adaptation. Faith that there is something greater than us, and that after the hardest winter, spring will surely come.”
In such conditions, community support is vital. Kyiv's St. Nicholas Church has opened its doors to those needing assistance during the energy crisis. Timur Tkachenko has also called for help for homeless animals, a reminder of the need to support all vulnerable beings in difficult situations.
