The High Anti-Corruption Court chose a preventive measure for the former Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko. He was taken into custody for 60 days with the possibility of posting bail of 200 million UAH. This was stated by the "Iron MP" Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
Prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office insisted on a bail of 425.9 million UAH. In the end, the court determined a lower amount, but maintained restrictions: wearing an electronic bracelet, a ban on communicating with other participants in the case, an obligation to appear when summoned, and to hand over documents for traveling abroad.
Halushchenko's case: what the former minister is suspected of
According to the investigation, it concerns participation in a criminal organization that, according to NABU materials, operated since December 2020. In court, it was mentioned that through the so-called "black accounting" called Manhattan, over 112 million dollars were embezzled from Energoatom.
Prosecutors revealed the hierarchy of the structure and the pseudonyms of its participants. Halushchenko was mentioned under the callsigns "Segizmund" and "Professor." According to the investigation, part of the funds was distributed among the participants. The former minister himself, according to the prosecution's version, received over 9 million dollars over several years.
Some episodes concern the possible influence on personnel decisions in the energy sector and discussions about the appointments of state enterprise leaders.
Preventive measure: what restrictions did the court impose
The court ruled:
- custody for a period of 60 days;
- bail of 200 million UAH;
- wearing an electronic bracelet in case bail is posted;
- a ban on communication with the accused in the proceedings;
- an obligation to surrender foreign documents.
The defense stated its disagreement with the decision and insisted on appealing it.
The investigation continues. NABU and SAP are continuing to examine financial flows, international connections, and the role of individual officials in a potential scheme.
It should be noted that the former minister Halushchenko was detained at the border on February 15.
