Decision of the High Anti-Corruption Court
The High Anti-Corruption Court (VAKS) partially satisfied the lawsuit of the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), recognizing the assets of the former head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (OTCK) and his wife as unjustified, totaling over 3.8 million hryvnias.
According to the NACS, the former head of the OTCK and his wife acquired:
- a house with a land plot;
- two cars registered in the wife's name.
The specified property was acquired in cash, while the family's legal income was spent cashless. The NACS conducted a lifestyle monitoring and analyzed the income and expenditures of the official's family, which became the basis for the prosecutor's lawsuit.
Thus, the VAKS decision confirmed the facts indicating possible violations in the financial activities of the former official.
Importance of the VAKS Decision
This decision of the VAKS is an important step in the fight against corruption in Ukraine as it underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to monitor the financial activities of public servants. The identified violations may prompt further investigations and increase control over the financial assets of officials, which, in turn, may enhance public trust in state institutions.
