The High Anti-Corruption Court (VAKS) has decided to support the claim of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) and recognize the assets belonging to the family of a former deputy of the Glukhov City Council in the Sumy region as unjustified. As a result of the investigation, the close relatives of the ex-deputy spent over 4.3 million UAH on the purchase of an apartment, parking space, and a car.
During the lifestyle check of the family, it was established that they made purchases of real estate and vehicles during 2021–2022. However, all these purchases were actually controlled by the former deputy himself. Neither he nor his relatives had legal means for such expenses, which was confirmed by analyzing income and expenditures.
"Neither the deputy nor his close ones had the opportunity to purchase the specified property at the expense of legal income," the National Agency for Corruption Prevention emphasized.
As a result, VAKS's decision reflects the fight against corruption and confirms the importance of studying the origin of the property of individuals who are currently in public service or have been before.
