A single trip on Kyiv City Express will cost from 30 to 37 UAH depending on the ticket purchase method from July 22. The lowest price is set for passengers who pay for the fare through mobile applications, while the most expensive option is purchasing at the box office or on the train. This is reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.
How much will travel on Kyiv City Express cost from July 22
The base ticket price in the applications will double and align with the fare in the capital's public transportation. The final amount will depend on the payment method:

30 UAH - in the "Ukrzaliznytsia" and "Kyiv Digital" applications;

34.20 UAH - through validators or terminals "Kyiv Digital";

36.70 UAH - at the "Ukrzaliznytsia" self-service terminals;

37 UAH - at the counters or from the ticket collector on the train.
Thus, purchasing a ticket through a mobile application will save 7 UAH on one trip compared to paying at the counter or directly in the electric train.
Why does Ukrzaliznytsia raise tariffs in Kyiv
The company explained the price review due to the increase in costs for electricity, maintenance, repairs, and daily operation of trains. Revenues from ticket sales are already insufficient to cover these costs.
Kyiv City Express carries tens of thousands of passengers daily and remains an alternative to ground transport during traffic jams. At the same time, the fare for the circular electric train has long been lower than the cost of traveling on other public transport in Kyiv.
An additional problem has been the debt for subsidized transportation. According to "Ukrzaliznytsia", the city has not compensated for these expenses since 2021, and only by the beginning of 2026 has the debt amount exceeded 10 million UAH.
What benefits will be available on Kyiv City Express after July 22
All existing benefits will remain. Students will still be able to buy discounted tickets through the "Ukrzaliznytsia" application, while pensioners and veterans can obtain free travel documents at the counters.
For those who regularly use the circular electric train, subscription tickets are planned to be introduced. They are expected to reduce costs for daily trips; however, the launch date and cost of such tickets have not yet been announced.
It should be noted that emergency rescue operations have been completed in the Darnytsia district of Kyiv at the site of a hit on a 16-story residential building. As a result of the Russian attack on July 2, 31 people were killed, and 102 were injured.
