Psychologists' research on 'microacts of joy'
Psychologists say that just five minutes a day, during which we perform 'microacts of joy', can significantly boost mood, reduce stress, and improve sleep quality. A study by Dr. Alisse Epel from the University of California confirmed that simple joyful acts can greatly enhance our emotional state.
'We were very impressed with how much people's emotional well-being improved,' noted Professor Epel.
In the 'Great Joy' study, over 18,000 people participated, showing that even small and quick actions can have a significant positive effect. Participants were encouraged to perform 'acts of joy' aimed at enhancing mood and optimism throughout the week.
Study Results
Those who successfully completed all the tasks experienced the greatest positive changes. Younger participants reported more improvements in their well-being than older ones. It is still not entirely clear how exactly 'microacts' influence our emotions, but the study results speak for themselves.
'A small daily dose of joy can be a powerful means of psychological support in tough times,' Dr. Epel noted.
Although further research is still needed, the importance of small joyful acts for our well-being is already evident. This highlights the significance of joy as a means of support in difficult times of life.
Psychologists have proven that even the simplest acts of joy can significantly improve a person's emotional well-being and help relieve stress. The study's results showed that it is important not to forget about joy in everyday life, especially in tough times.
