The UK is in crisis due to water shortage: authorities call for emergency measures

The UK is currently experiencing the fourth heatwave of this summer, leading to a severe water shortage. This situation has become so critical that the National Drought Group has declared it 'nationally significant'. The Environment Agency has called on the country's residents to conserve water to reduce the strain on water resources.

Despite rain in July, which was the fifth warmest on record, river and reservoir levels continue to decline. After an extremely dry six months, water supplies are at risk.

'The situation is nationally significant, and we urge everyone to contribute and help reduce the pressure on our water environment,' emphasized Helen Wakeham, head of the National Drought Group.
