The UK has abandoned plans to deploy a 30,000-strong peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine

The protection of ports and cities has been canceled, London offers a more realistic mission. This is reported by 'The Times'.

  • air patrols over Western Ukraine using aircraft;

  • training Ukrainian troops in less vulnerable regions;

  • de-mining the Black Sea and ensuring safe passage for ships;

  • providing logistics, armaments, and assistance in organizing ground troops.

Starmer on preparation for a peace treaty

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer noted that these measures are preparations for a peace treaty between Ukraine and Russia. The EU and the UK are ready to support these plans.

If necessary, London is preparing new sanctions, including the seizure of Russian assets worth 260 billion euros, to pressure Russia. Abandoning a large military contingent is advantageous for diplomatic and economic pressure.

The message about the UK's refusal to deploy a large peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine indicates a change in London's strategy in combating Russian aggression. Instead, the country is focusing on diplomatic measures and economic pressure on Russia to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
