Conditions of the Peace Agreement between Ukraine and Russia
U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance outlined the main conditions of the peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, as well as announced a 28-point plan approved by Donald Trump. This plan aims to end the war ongoing between the two countries and was developed with the involvement of Keith Kellogg, J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio, and others.
Jay D. Vance noted that there is a certain illusion that increasing funding, providing more weapons, or imposing new sanctions will lead to a quick victory. In his statement, he emphasized that peace cannot be established through unsuccessful diplomats or politicians living in a fictional world.
Key Points of the Peace Agreement
Among the key points of the peace agreement are the following conditions:
- Ceasefire and cessation of killings;
- Preservation of Ukrainian sovereignty;
- Reaching an agreement acceptable to both sides — Kyiv and Moscow;
- Providing maximum guarantees that the conflict will not flare up again.
However, among the conditions, there are allegedly demands to cede the entire Donbass, reduce the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, decrease U.S. military aid, and recognize the Russian language as the state language.
This plan, perceived as an attempt to find a compromise in the conditions of a protracted conflict, raises numerous questions about its realism and implementation feasibility. Importantly, conditions that may be unacceptable to one side could become an obstacle to peace. The conflict between Ukraine and Russia remains a complex issue on the international stage and further depends on the strategies of both sides and international partners.
